Having a criminal history shouldn’t keep someone from accessing housing, but landlords continue to deny eligible applicants for this reason even though research shows there is no correlation between having a past criminal record and poor tenant behavior.

Columbia Legal Services has teamed up with the Washington Statewide Reentry Council, Washington Low Income Housing Alliance (WLIHA), and Pioneer Human Services to put together a panel of advocates and community leaders who’ve been directly impacted by these barriers.

WHEN: Monday, January 13, 11 am – 12 pm

WHERE: Columbia Room (Legislative Building Room 119), Capitol Campus, Olympia, WA, or virtually via Facebook Live.

WHO:
Carolina Landa, Washington Statewide Reentry Council
Duaa-Rahemaah Williams, Housing Justice Advocate
Julian Saucier, Yoga Behind Bars
Kim Gunning, Columbia Legal Services
Susan Mason, What’s Next Washington
Moderated by Chris Poulos, Washington Statewide Reentry Council

Join us in person or via Facebook Live to hear why we must pass policies to increase housing access. Simply visit the WLIHA Facebook page at 11am on Monday to join the Facebook Live event.
