Unlike most legal aid organizations, CLS takes no government funding so that we can work alongside people who are undocumented or incarcerated, taking on class action litigation and legislative work that create sweeping change. To fund this work, we rely on individuals and foundations who share our belief that everyone deserves equal access to the law. Together, we seek a Washington in which everyone has equitable rights and opportunities, and no one is held in cages.
