What legal services does CLS provide?
CLS normally only accepts impact litigation cases where the outcome of the case will typically affect a group of 100 people or more in Washington State. We use a variety of legal tools to further our mission to achieve social and economic justice for all.
How can I find a lawyer? Referrals?
If you are low-income, you can call the Northwest Justice Project’s CLEAR hotline between 9:15 am to 12:15 pm Monday through Friday at (888) 201-1014. If you are over 60 years of age, regardless of income, call their Senior line at (888) 387-7111. People with legal problems in King County should call 211.
You can also obtain self-help information on a civil (not criminal) legal problem by going to Washington LawHelp. You can find contact information for many of Washington’s legal aid programs, download forms, and learn more about areas of law that affect low-income people.
Who can help me adjust my immigration status or help a loved one who is being deported?

For a fee, you may also contact your local Court Facilitator for help filling out forms and other services.

Thurston County Volunteer Legal Services provides regular, high-quality family law clinics – for general problems and for survivors of domestic abuse. They have clinics in Olympia, Shelton, and Aberdeen throughout the month.
Can you help me clear my record?
We do not help with record vacating or sealing. If you live in King County you can go to Volunteer Legal Services to vacate or seal your records. If you live outside of King County you can go to Washington LawHelp for assistance.
If you are attempting to clear a juvenile record visit TeamChild for office locations.
If you owe fees, fines, or restitution for a misdemeanor or felony in Washington State, also known as Legal Financial Obligations (LFOs) and do not have the financial ability to pay them, you may be eligible for relief. Washington LawHelp has self-help resources for LFO relief. The CLEAR hotline may also be able to refer you to legal organizations assisting people who need more help.
Who can help me get medical treatment for my work-related injury?
If you are injured at work, you should file a claim with Washington State Department of Labor & Industries. If you are not able to receive help through L&I and are low income, you can call the Northwest Justice Project’s CLEAR hotline between 9:15 am to 12:15 pm Monday through Friday at (888) 201-1014, for referrals and advice. If you are over 60 years of age, regardless of income, call their Senior line at (888) 387-7111. People with legal problems in King County should call 211.
I work in agriculture and have been fired for not meeting production standards, demanding a fair wage, asserting my rights, and/or complaining about a dangerous work environment. Can you help me get my job back or file a lawsuit?
Possibly. If you are a farm worker and feel you have been unjustly fired or not paid your proper wages, you should contact the farmworker unit at the Northwest Justice Project in Yakima (509) 574-4234 or Wenatchee (509) 664-5101. They may be able to initiate an investigation into your claim(s) and provide possible legal representation. If the claims involve many other workers, it is possible that the case will be referred to CLS for further investigation and possible litigation.
Who can help me if I am experiencing homelessness and want to continue to go to school?
If you are experiencing homelessness, your school must provide you with free lunch, transportation, and immediate enrollment into school. Contact Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) at (360) 725-6000.
