Has your landlord ever charged you for damage you didn’t do? As a tenant, have you ever been charged when you move out for minor, everyday repairs? (And what really is “wear and tear” anyway?) If you think landlords should have to document any repairs before charging you for them, then please help to get the House to vote YES on HB 1300.
HB 1300 would:
- Clearly define “wear and tear”.
- Require landlords to document and justify costs of repairs at the end of tenancy.
- Protect tenants from being denied subsequent rental opportunities because of unfair damage claims from a previous landlord.
