HB 1440 requires landlords statewide to give tenants a minimum of 60 days’ notice for any increase in rent, excluding only certain subsidized tenancies where rent is directly tied to the tenant’s income. This law doubles the required notice period for rent increases, regardless of the amount of the increase—meaning that tenants facing rent increases will have more time to respond in a way that reduces their financial burden and meets their family’s needs.
